TimberThane
What Is Timberthane?
TimberThane is made from a high density polyurethane, which is a versatile synthetic polymer. It can be formulated into various forms, including foams, elastomers, coatings, adhesives, and sealants. TimberThane uses polyurethane in real wood timber molds to capture the real wood textures while applying the natural benefits of polyurethane.
Benefits of Timberthane
Lightweight
The lightweight structure of polyurethane makes it suitable for applications where weight may be a concern. For example, polyurethane is ideal for applications where it will be suspended from a ceiling or wall, or in other hard-to-reach places, because it is much easier to install than heavier materials.
Crack, Warp, and Rot Resistant
TimberThane won't crack or lose its shape. It does not absorb moisture, making it resistant to mold and bacteria. Being non-porous, antimicrobial, and chemically stable makes it resistant to bacteria, mold, and insects.
Low-Maintenance
To clean Timberthane, use mild soap and water. Avoid harsh chemicals and sharp cleaning tools that might scratch the surface. To maintain a fresh look, reapply coatings or stains as needed.
Customization
TimberThane is a versatile material that can be both milled and molded to create a wide range of designs, shapes, and sizes. Ekena currently offers seven unique wood textures with optional finishes for beams.
Best Uses For TimberThane
We recommend using TimberThane in places where normal wood is difficult to install, or where you want an easy installation and low maintenance, but still want the warmth and beauty of real wood. Some of the best places to use TimberThane are ceiling beams, shutters, brackets, gable vents, gable brackets, and corbels.
